The Lacquer Legion: Glam

Monday, April 28, 2014
So, I know I've been a bad blogger lately. Trust me, it hurts me more then it hurts you. But I have managed to get the Lacquer Legion post up in time for you guys, and I have some stuff up my sleeve for very soon [AKA when I'll have the time to sit down and edit the photos.], including a review of some awesome Born Pretty store items!

Anyhow, When I thought of the subject of GLAM, I knew I'm going o do something with glitters and gem shades. So I decided to go with a bright turquoise, and a 3D cube pattern using gold and silver holographic glequins.

My base color is Ga-de Dramatic teal, and the reason that the two accent nails are o bubbly is because I used my thick top coat to smoth out the glequins. I need to find another solution for that!

Does it have to resemble a Kiwi?

Tuesday, April 8, 2014
See this title above? That's all I had in mind while wearing this manicure. It's also why I've added the studs, to try and convert it up a bit.

I love the fact that this stamping design is user freindly. I mean, I had few mistakes, but they aren't that visible! I even re-stamped on my thumb since the design was too thin to my wide thumb, and it worked quite well!

My base color is Ga-de Emerald glamour, and I stamp using Wow 393 and Bundle Monster BM-021.

Spring Awakening

Friday, April 4, 2014
Originally, I did this design for Nailpolis competition, and later on I've submitted it to KBShimmer competition as well. I'm guessing that spring is the right time for nail art competitions... Anyhow, when I uploaded it to Nailpolis, I've named it "Two little birdies sitting on a tree", but for the post name I went with the competition name itself, which was what I wrote on my thumb as well.

I've started with a grey base and sponged greens and pink all over the background for the overall flower-y vibe. The rest was free handed, and at the end, I finished up with 15 different nail polishes out on the table.
I really liked the bird on my ring finger, but the second one didn't turn out very well, I believe.

I even went a bit artistic with this design, and did some photos with floral props, that believe me, were really hard to find around the house!

Cool toned skittlette

Thursday, March 20, 2014
So, I've decide to practice my mix and match skills, so prepare yourself for many skittlettes in the near future. It also makes a great opportunity for me to practice my stamping skills without getting frustrated from a full stamping manicure. I still haven't tried the Skittlette goddess's formula, but this one is quite close.

So- two stamped nails, two plains and one texture later, this mani was done! Ok, you may notice that the stamping is less then imperfect, but I honestly believe that with this specific print, the missing parts aren't as visible, so I kinda douched the bullet with this one.

Both the bright blue (Wibo 482)  and the light green (Life 279) were too sheer, with the blue actually being a jelly, so I painted them over a white base (Wow 350). I stamped with Bundle Monster BM-206, and Wow 393. The texture polish is Chic 05.

The Lacquer Legion: Adoration

Friday, February 28, 2014
We are now at the second month of The Lacquer Legion challenge, and let me tell you- I'm so glad I joined! This challenge prompts are so wide and unspecific, that I struggle to come up with the right mani to fit it. As I did before, I've decided to go literal on the subject, and when last time I had the reinvention of the butterfly shape, this time my nails consist of a crowd filled with adoration to their idol.

As to who or what this idol is, this is all up to you! The vision I had in mind is the cheering crowd at a concert, or maybe a party of some sort, or better yet- a DJ's concert that combines it all together. To demonstrate the colorful stage light I played around with strokes of different glow in the dark polishes, and on top of those, I added the crowd silhouette. Unfortunately, the crowd isn't really visible in the glow mode.

My base color is Wow 350, and above it are 4 BK's glow in the dark polishes- 01, 04, 07 and 09. The polishes does glow in different colors, with the main difference being in the purple polish, and yet on my glow in the dark photos [as in real life], it all seems to glow in the same color, so the colorful affect is lost. For the crowd silhouette as well as the French tip on my thumb I used Wow 393.

Sochi Olympic Games- Curling nails

Monday, February 10, 2014
If you're following my Facebook page, you already know that the 1st of February was a horrible day. It was the day I was forced to cut down my nails and make them into nubs. After screaming at the top of my lungs, I set my self down and made a new manicure, because I couldn't look at my naked nubs for another second. Now, don't get me wrong- there are many people who can really rock their nubs, but unfortunately, my hands just look too big like that. Doesn't work for me.

So although the Winter Olympics started a few days ago, only now I'm posting my Olympic nails, inspired by my favorite winter game- Curling. In Curling there's a target painted on the ice floor, and it is played in two groups. The point of the game is to get your group's rocks as close to the target eyeball, but also making sure the other team's rocks as far as possible.
The Curling competitions only started today, so this manicure comes out just in time!

So here is a quick breakdown of the whole nail art:
I believe my pointer needs no introducing, but anyhow, it's says "Sochi 2014", to state which Olympic games we are talking about. My middle finger shows this year's Curling icon, with a man throwing the rock. Which leads me to my ring finger, on which I've drawn the rock itself, on the white background of the ice, on it's way to reach the target- which is exactly what I have on my pinky.
On my thumb I have the well known Olympic rings. Don't ask me why the logo is placed so low, it just turned that way during the course of things.
All was free handed but the icon's head, in which I used a dotting tool.

And we're down to the colors break down. The white base color on all of my nails is Chic White flag. The light blue on my thumb, pointer and middle finger is Chic Bora bora. The red is Life strawberry, and the dark blue that I've paired with it on my pinky is Life 332. The dark-silver shade of the rock is Ga-de Vintage silver. The black is Ga-de black swan, the green in Life 327, and the yellow is Ga-de Mellow yellow.

The Lacquer Legion: Reinvention

Monday, January 27, 2014
It's the first (official) Lacquer Legion challenge, and I already feel pumped! This month prompt had me come up with two manicure ideas that I liked- the wrong one that you've already seen, and the one that actually follows the orders the way they REALLY should be followed. That's the one I have for you today!

When I sat myself down to think this theme through, my thoughts were blocked. But you know what they say- when in doubt, google it! (OK, so maybe nobody actually say it. Shhh...) So after doing so, I found this picture of the butterfly transformation stages, and realized that the metamorphosis it has to go through is not so different from this so called 'reinvention' many of us dream of doing.
I had so much fun wearing this manicure, and I'm most definitely proud of my fine-detailed work on the two grown butterflies. I showed it off whenever I had the chance to! What made it even better is that everyone (and I mean every. single. one.)  thought I used nail stickers. But here's the beauty of it- I didn't! This manicure is 100% legit- everything was free-handed by me!

The base color is Chic White flag, and the nail art was done using Chic White flagCrazy in love and It's a date, as well as Ga-de Black swan and California sun.

A challenge gone wrong

Thursday, January 23, 2014
This is a story about a girl with a poor English. The girl decide×’ to join The Lacquer Legion challenge. The girl also read the month theme "Reinvention" as "Renovation". Yep. That's right. The girl spend a fair share of her time planning a 'house renovation' themed manicure. And here's when the truth comes out- the girl above is me.
I ended up quiet liking the manicure I had in mind, so even thought I figured out my mistake before making it, I decided to go for it anyway! There's no harm in making an extra nail art, right?

The color of the wall is Chic White flag, and the fresh coat of paint was made using the perfect minty green-  Life 279. I drew the paint roller using Chic Diamonds [silver], Ga-de Black swan [black], and the mixture of Ga-de Black swan and Life 279.

Gradiant bow

Monday, January 13, 2014
So, this is the first, out of apparently only two manicures I've actually remembered to photograph. Very smart of me! Anyway, if I remember correctly, I did this manicure back in October, after I was blown away by Sarah's red mix and match manicure from the 31DC. I recreated the bow from that manicure, and being my lazy self, the rest of the nails didn't get anymore then a nice-color changing rheinstone.

The base color is Life 269, and the bow was done using Life 316, Ga-de dramatic teak, and different mixtures of the two.

31DC2013: Day 22, inspired by a song

Sunday, September 22, 2013
When I've heard "song inspired" I imidiatly wanted to go with the one and only, that makes me go nuts in lipsing, Britney Spears. Now, I wanted to go with some old school classic such as 'Baby one more time', but ended up going for the song 'Holg it against me', because it's video has alot of sceance I could take Insperation of.

So here is the full on manicure, and from here I'm gonna show you each finger with a screen shot of the insperation for it.

Starting with the pinky and the thumb, where I took inspiration from the splattered dress. The white here is Chic white flag. Blue is Chic bora bora, green is Chic crazy in love, purple is Life 328 and orange is Life 299. I mixed those 4 colors with some nail polish remover [Acetone does not work!] and blow the brush to get paint on my nails.

On to the ring finger I have Britney lips. I must say, I did a horrible job capturing it, but oh well.
Black is Chic black fog, Pink is a mix of Laka 73 and Chic white flag, white is again Chic white flag and red is Life strawberry.

My middle finger represent Britney's CRAZY neon necklace, which I would love to get my hand on. No idea what will go with it tho.
Nude is Chic sand, Silver is Chic diamonds, and yellow is Ga-de california sun.

My pointer is an abstract of the fight between Britney's black self and Britney's red self. I uses saran warp to create this effect. Red is Life strawberry and black is Chic black fog.

31DC2013: Day 15, delicate nails

Sunday, September 15, 2013
It's my birthday you guys!
I know I'm pushing the limits here, but give me a break, a girl can party in her birthday, right?
Since the begining of the challange I was wondering about what I'm gonna do for this special day. And I came up with something both delicate and festive, bunting!

I started with a grey base color, because this shade specifically is very cool. I don't know why, I just like it alot. Any how, I drew black lines on top of it, and went with my go-to pastel rainbow colors. In order to complete the look I added my number of years of existence on my thumb, and that was it!

The grey is Life 269, black is Chic black fog. Coral-pinky shade is Ga-de peach sorbet, yellow is Ga-de california sun, green is Chic crazy in love, Blue is Life 329, and the purple is Chic I lilac you.

31DC2013: Day 13, animal print nails

Friday, September 13, 2013
I came up with today's manicure quit early in the day, but was too lazy to do it till now.
I didn't want to go with the classical animal prints, so I thought about it for a while, and decided to go with a parrot! two of them actually.

Four of my nails are devoted to the red parrot [don't expect me to search for his name], and my thumb is the parrot that I'm pretty sure is called Drara. This manicure is meant to be seen in a diagonal position.
After coloring my base colors, I hand drawn the details, and used dotting tool for the green bird eye.

This gonna be a long list of colors...
Green is Chic crazy in love, red is Life strawberry, white is Chic white flag, black is Chic black fog. I used Ga-de california sun for the green bird eye and as an undie on my ring finger. Both the blue and the bright yellow are from nails supreme set.

31DC2013: Day 12, stipes nails

Thursday, September 12, 2013
Oh my, oh my. The nail-art goddess sure does not give me an easy life!
Stripes. Easy. This time I even had an idea. Wanted to use my texture polish for the stripes. So I applied glue [as a peel off base coat] because it's glittery. Applied base color, and striping tape, and then the texture polish. Peeled off the striping tape- TADA! No polish left on the nail. So I free hand the stripes with a brush.

I'll just say- the colors are as close as I could get them to the reality. But the base color shade is so much more beautiful in real life, that's it's a bummer I couldn't manage to.
So as I said, I draw the lines by hand, and added my awesome-camera-shy holographic glequins in stripes as well. My thumb got full two coats of the texture polish, AND a stripe of glequins.

The base color is Life 327, the texture polish is Chic sugar baby 5, and I got the glequing in a small nail art supply store.

31DC2013: Day 9, rainbow nails

Monday, September 9, 2013
I have to admit, I wasn't too excited about today's challange. For me rainbow is either too childish or the homosexual flag, to be honest with you. After coming up, and canceling, tons of ideas, I decided to simply taste the rainbow!

Oh... yeah! It's a skittles mani! And boy, this mani was a rough one! My nails ended up too short for this, and if you'll look closely, you'll see that I dropped the "e" in the word. BUT- I am very proud of it, and the rainbow itself came out great, which is why it's good I took some pictures before adding the text.

So my pointer is obviously the original flavored package, while the other nails supposed to resemble the skittles them self. Also, smart me didn't bother to wait till the text is fully dried, and massed it up with the top coat.

And on to the color list-
The red is Life strawberry, the orange is Life 299, the yellow is Ga-de california sun, green is Chic crazy in love, and the blue on the logo is Chic bora bora. The purple on my pinky is Ga-de purple empire, while the one used on my ring finger is Life 328. Don't ask why.

31DC2013: Day 4, green nails

Wednesday, September 4, 2013
4th day and still going!
Honest truth for a second? This post, as well as the next 3, are scheduled. Why, you may ask- it's an holiday, and I won't have access to the computer in the next day, but I did not want to leave you with nothing!

Ok, ok, I know. Not real creative of me, isn't it? But I have an excuse, I swear! I bought those studs last week, and just look at them! They're simply gorgeous! Yes, I wish they were smaller, but the color if amazing!

Anyhow, the base color is Chic, crazy in love. Then, using clear nail polish, I pasted the studs on, and topped it with more clear polish.

31DC2013: Day 2, orange nails

Monday, September 2, 2013
Another day, another nail art!
My dad will kill me for what I'm about to say because of my Dutch roots, but I hate orange. Sure, I have orange nail polish, but that's just cause I'm an addict.
That's why I had some troubles with what to do for today. I consulted my friends, and they offered me to do the an orange fruit. After I told them it's not creative enough, they came up with this!

A carrot! Ok, I know I'm kinda following the whole edible things theme here, but you are welcome to punch me if I'm doing lemons for tommorow. Please, do.
My pinky, ring, middle and pointer fingers are dedicated to the carrot itself, while my thumb if the leafs on top of it, for an easy removal ;)

My base color is Chic sand, the orange is Life 299, and I used a mixture of this and both Red 79 and Chic silly me for the shading. the leafs were done using Chic crazy in love.
