The road so far

Tuesday, May 20, 2014
I'm afraid. I fear for my life, and I fear for my feelings even more. I just don't think I'm quite ready for season 9 finale. Season 9 of what? Supernatural, obviously! I'm just not mentally prepared for it, OK?!
My nails are, though!

As my friend put it- Instead of going literal and doing something like angel wings, the mark of Cain or the anti-possession tattoo, I went for- and I'm quoting her- "the deep motive of the show". And she's absolutely right! This show has always been about family, and the two genetically blessed brothers on a road trip, saving people and hunting things, you know, the family business.
Other than that, on my thumb I have yet another lame excuse of writing. "The road so far" is the title that along with "carry on my wayward son" in the background, will bring every fan to tears, thinking about the boy's history.

The base for Dean's baby are water decals* from born pretty store, you can get here. This work like any water decals out there, but since you are going for a full nail here, application can be a bit tricky. I'll suggest that you don't mind you cuticles in the process, and just clean them up later with Acetone or nail polish remover. Don't forget to use top coat on top of it, so it will stay put.

My base color for all of my nails is Wow 350. On my thumb I wrote using Wow 393. The 67' Chavy Impala was drawn using the two polishes above, as well as Life 269 and Chic Diamonds. If you noticed- I added a red dot on the map, using Life strawberry. Guess where the red dot is, just guess!

I'm off to find some salt, because I'm all alone at home and I heard the guitar playing. And I might use it on popcorn while the episode? That might be wise...

Spring Awakening

Friday, April 4, 2014
Originally, I did this design for Nailpolis competition, and later on I've submitted it to KBShimmer competition as well. I'm guessing that spring is the right time for nail art competitions... Anyhow, when I uploaded it to Nailpolis, I've named it "Two little birdies sitting on a tree", but for the post name I went with the competition name itself, which was what I wrote on my thumb as well.

I've started with a grey base and sponged greens and pink all over the background for the overall flower-y vibe. The rest was free handed, and at the end, I finished up with 15 different nail polishes out on the table.
I really liked the bird on my ring finger, but the second one didn't turn out very well, I believe.

I even went a bit artistic with this design, and did some photos with floral props, that believe me, were really hard to find around the house!

The Lacquer Legion: Lucky

Friday, March 28, 2014
As always, this too non-specific topics are giving my a hard time. I know that the reason behind it is St. Patrick day, but I didn't want to go with a green, gold and clover. Every time I tried to think about a nail art, Daft punk's Get Lucky song kept playing in my head. After I found the cover art for the single, I just knew it would transfer beautifully to my nails, so I did just that!

You know that feeling when you just feel too bad to do this extra step on your nail art? That every step is good enough on it's own? This is what I like to call an "Evolving Manicure". My base color- Ga-de Peach sorbet (that you can actually see only on my thumb) is very gorgeous on it's own, and the gradient  (using Ga-de Tangerine and Life 299) can pass for a nail art every day. I did the shape of the sun using OPI German-icure, and added the silhouettes with Ga-de Black swan.

I'm interested to see what everyone else did today, and how many of them didn't stick to the green :)

Cool toned skittlette

Thursday, March 20, 2014
So, I've decide to practice my mix and match skills, so prepare yourself for many skittlettes in the near future. It also makes a great opportunity for me to practice my stamping skills without getting frustrated from a full stamping manicure. I still haven't tried the Skittlette goddess's formula, but this one is quite close.

So- two stamped nails, two plains and one texture later, this mani was done! Ok, you may notice that the stamping is less then imperfect, but I honestly believe that with this specific print, the missing parts aren't as visible, so I kinda douched the bullet with this one.

Both the bright blue (Wibo 482)  and the light green (Life 279) were too sheer, with the blue actually being a jelly, so I painted them over a white base (Wow 350). I stamped with Bundle Monster BM-206, and Wow 393. The texture polish is Chic 05.

Recycling manicure

Thursday, March 13, 2014
As shocked as I was about the bright pink polish fitting me, I really liked its bold look. And while the accent nails with the decal softened up the over look, I wanted to try and go BOLD. So I used the skittlette to my advantage and changed up only two nails.

So the stamping might have turned up awful, but I'm liking my bold move. I normally wouldn't have gone for such a bold manicure, but for those who does- such a bright look is perfect for the summer that gets closer and closer by the minute.

The pink polish is Life 276, and the stud on top of it is similar to the one here (You may use my coupon code YLX31 to get 10% off your order). My gold polish is Life 345, and I stamped over it using Wow 393 and Bundle Monster BM-410. Again, the added stud is from Forever 21, but you can get something similar by a quick search online.

Eye catching Sakura

Monday, March 10, 2014
So, the story behind my untypical use of bright pink polish is this- a while ago I bought some water decals at a local store, and they were sitting unused in my drawer ever since. I felt like using the sakura brunches design, and my search for a matching nail polish has lead me to one of my barely used nail polishes.

So, on the the decals- after completely drying my nail polish, I cut a piece of the decal, took the plastic part off, and soaked it in water. When it was soaked enough, I pulled the design off of the paper using a pair of tweezers, and placed it on my nail. Quick tip- If your nails are wet, you can move the decal around even after you placed it, and then soak the water off gently. Don't forget to use top coat after applying the decals.

My pink polish is Life 276, and the base color for the decals is Wow 395. I used studs that I bought from Forever 21, but you can get identical ones from the Born Pretty Store here, and don't forget to use my coupon code YLX31 at checkout to get 10% off your order.

Oscar worthy

Sunday, March 2, 2014
Call it last minute! I had this manicure in mind for MONTHS, and kept convincing myself not to do it just yet, and to do it so I can wear it during the actual ceremony. Well, that didn't work out so well. I've planned on doing it yesterday, so I'd have the time to edit the pictures and write the post, but my hands got weirdly swollen, so I decided to give it a rest and do it all at the last minute. Better did I know, my hand is still swollen! But I did my best to pose for you guys, and I'll top it all with a tutorial!

So, a quick over look first, and then move on the the detailed tutorial. I have the desired red carpet, and the statue it self on my index finger. I struggled alot about what I should to on my thumb, and ended up with cheering my [and the entire internet's] favorite.

On to the tutorial! I'll show it to you step by step, and will add a combined photo in the end.

Step 1: After your usual base coat, apply your base color. Here I went with a sheer milky-nude which is Astor 7.

Step 2:  Create some sort of a red french. I took it to the wider side here. You should keep the french her straight at the top, even if it doesn't follow your natural nail tip. I used my go to red polish- Life strawberry.

Step 3: Create the shape of the statue. I started with a rectangle at the base, with a line going from the midlle straight up. I added the oval shape of the head, and made sure I widen up the top of my line, so it will look more like shoulders. I used a mustered-y polish here, Chic It's a date.

Step 4: High light your statue. I used Life 345.

Step 5: Use your favorite top coat, and do some clean up, and you're golden! [ok, I'm really sorry about this pun. I didn't mean it at first, but then I just... couldn't help myself!]

Here is the combined picture:

and here I say goodbye and go to bite my nail [on the non-swatching hand!] till I know who won!

Purple hexagons meet nubs

Monday, February 17, 2014
I don't know why, but this title sounds like some sort of a summary to a  Sci-Fi-Romance movie. Imagine it- a purple hexagons, with his very own pare of legs, walks into a bar and seeing miss nub sitting at the corner. Her well moisturized cuticles and smooth surface catch his look, and---
Ok, I'll stop right there, and we'll move on to the manicure before someone decides to hospitalize me somewhere.

I tried stamping again, because you know what they say- practice makes perfect! Well, the thumb on my left hand was the best of my many tries. For some reason, the stamping on my ring finger insisted on smudging every single time I tried to repeat on it, so I ended up just letting it be.

Also, this time I actually made the same nail art on both hands! If you knew me IRL, you'd know how rare that phenomenon is. Many times I even go with my right hand polish-naked. Yes. I am THAT lazy. Kinda justifies the blog's name, doesn't it?
So in order to celebrate that, I've decided to include some very rare (and you better appreciate it!), right hand photos.

The base color of all my nails is Chic I lilac you. I stamped using Bundle Monster BM-422 and Life 337, which is a nice shimmery purple. The glitter topper is Wow 368. I added a stud from Forever 21. I actually quite liked the fact that the black stud breaks the overall purple look a bit, but doesn't disturb it.

Quick Valentine manicure

Thursday, February 13, 2014
While I originally planned on posting one of the 3 post I have waiting in the drafts, and ignore Valentines Day all together, I picked up this gorgeous red textured nail polish just few hours ago, and had to give it a go. So here we are, with a simple, last minute manicure, that deserves to be included as a valentine day manicure due to its color scheme.

This shade is so unique! With it's pink-leaning red base, it has gold and bright pink shimmer, that makes it sparkle so beautifully under bright indoor light. Haven't got a chance to see it in sunlight, but in case it's as gorgeous as indoors, I will update you! UPDATE: It's even more amazing outside!
So With a quick taping on two bare nails I matched 3 full coverage nails (photos shows only one coat), this quick, last minute manicure is done, and can be done for those last minutes dates!

This shade is Life 301, from their new textured line.

Sochi Olympic Games- Curling nails

Monday, February 10, 2014
If you're following my Facebook page, you already know that the 1st of February was a horrible day. It was the day I was forced to cut down my nails and make them into nubs. After screaming at the top of my lungs, I set my self down and made a new manicure, because I couldn't look at my naked nubs for another second. Now, don't get me wrong- there are many people who can really rock their nubs, but unfortunately, my hands just look too big like that. Doesn't work for me.

So although the Winter Olympics started a few days ago, only now I'm posting my Olympic nails, inspired by my favorite winter game- Curling. In Curling there's a target painted on the ice floor, and it is played in two groups. The point of the game is to get your group's rocks as close to the target eyeball, but also making sure the other team's rocks as far as possible.
The Curling competitions only started today, so this manicure comes out just in time!

So here is a quick breakdown of the whole nail art:
I believe my pointer needs no introducing, but anyhow, it's says "Sochi 2014", to state which Olympic games we are talking about. My middle finger shows this year's Curling icon, with a man throwing the rock. Which leads me to my ring finger, on which I've drawn the rock itself, on the white background of the ice, on it's way to reach the target- which is exactly what I have on my pinky.
On my thumb I have the well known Olympic rings. Don't ask me why the logo is placed so low, it just turned that way during the course of things.
All was free handed but the icon's head, in which I used a dotting tool.

And we're down to the colors break down. The white base color on all of my nails is Chic White flag. The light blue on my thumb, pointer and middle finger is Chic Bora bora. The red is Life strawberry, and the dark blue that I've paired with it on my pinky is Life 332. The dark-silver shade of the rock is Ga-de Vintage silver. The black is Ga-de black swan, the green in Life 327, and the yellow is Ga-de Mellow yellow.

A challenge gone wrong

Thursday, January 23, 2014
This is a story about a girl with a poor English. The girl decide×’ to join The Lacquer Legion challenge. The girl also read the month theme "Reinvention" as "Renovation". Yep. That's right. The girl spend a fair share of her time planning a 'house renovation' themed manicure. And here's when the truth comes out- the girl above is me.
I ended up quiet liking the manicure I had in mind, so even thought I figured out my mistake before making it, I decided to go for it anyway! There's no harm in making an extra nail art, right?

The color of the wall is Chic White flag, and the fresh coat of paint was made using the perfect minty green-  Life 279. I drew the paint roller using Chic Diamonds [silver], Ga-de Black swan [black], and the mixture of Ga-de Black swan and Life 279.

Jelly doughnuts

Thursday, January 16, 2014
I know for a fact I did this manicure on November. November 27th to be exact. Why can I remember is so well? Because I made it specially for Hanukkah. What symbolizes this particular Jewish holiday more then anything are the Dreidels and the jelly filled doughnuts. I didn't actually have a proper image of this doughnut manicure, so I just snapped a quick one when leaving for school photoshooting. I tried my best editing the photo to make it as realistic as possible, when comes to true-to-life colors. I ended up making all the scenario around my finger nails to seem a bit off. The second picture was snatched from my friend's Instagram.

The base color is Ga-de Mellow Yellow. The base of the jelly doughnuts is Chic sand, and the shading was done using Wow 395 and Red 79. I used Chic white flag and Life strawberry for the sugar and jelly.

Gradiant bow

Monday, January 13, 2014
So, this is the first, out of apparently only two manicures I've actually remembered to photograph. Very smart of me! Anyway, if I remember correctly, I did this manicure back in October, after I was blown away by Sarah's red mix and match manicure from the 31DC. I recreated the bow from that manicure, and being my lazy self, the rest of the nails didn't get anymore then a nice-color changing rheinstone.

The base color is Life 269, and the bow was done using Life 316, Ga-de dramatic teak, and different mixtures of the two.

31DC2013: Day 26, inspired by a pattern

Thursday, September 26, 2013
Patterns are awesome. They are. The thing is, we already had 10 days dedicated to them. But don't you worry, I have just the pattern you need, that hasn't been used in the challenge!
3D cube pattern! I mean. how can you not fall in love with this geometric, optic illusion print? I know I did!

I really liked yesterday's color combination, but I knew that I'm gonna need to use different shades of the same color, and therefor, the orange must go. That's why I added the dark turquoise to the combo, and went on with it.

I used Cihc sand as the nude tone, Life 329 as the light blue, Chic bora bora as the blue and Laline kahal galena as the dark turquoise in the pattern and on my tips.
