The Lacquer Legion: Lucky

Friday, March 28, 2014
As always, this too non-specific topics are giving my a hard time. I know that the reason behind it is St. Patrick day, but I didn't want to go with a green, gold and clover. Every time I tried to think about a nail art, Daft punk's Get Lucky song kept playing in my head. After I found the cover art for the single, I just knew it would transfer beautifully to my nails, so I did just that!

You know that feeling when you just feel too bad to do this extra step on your nail art? That every step is good enough on it's own? This is what I like to call an "Evolving Manicure". My base color- Ga-de Peach sorbet (that you can actually see only on my thumb) is very gorgeous on it's own, and the gradient  (using Ga-de Tangerine and Life 299) can pass for a nail art every day. I did the shape of the sun using OPI German-icure, and added the silhouettes with Ga-de Black swan.

I'm interested to see what everyone else did today, and how many of them didn't stick to the green :)

From day to night in a simple twist

Monday, March 24, 2014
When I've noticed that my tips are starting to break, I realized I need to shorten my nails again. But it felt like such a shame to give up this length, so I decided to use it before I lose it. I came up with an idea for a subtle, office appropriate manicure, with some bright, flashy inner tips. This way I can keep it appropriate, but don't feel all sweet and soft for a long time.

I went with 3 coats of Ga-de Angelina, so I can reach opacity, and on top I added OPI Pirouette My Whistle in a dabbed coat, just to add this little something extra.
I didn't want to color on my inner tip to affect the look of my normal manicure, so just so I'll be on the safe side, I painted a coat of white polish, Wow 350, before applying Ga-de Tangerine.

I had so much fun wearing this manicure, and I just loved the looks on people faces when they saw the inner side as well. I will defiantly be doing more double sided manicures in the near future!

31DC2013: Day 10, gradient nails

Tuesday, September 10, 2013
Man, today was not an easy one for me. It makes me worried from the challenges to come...
Since I did a gradient two days ago, I know I can't get away with just a simple gradient. At first, I thought about doing a gradient using my first two new texture polishes, but when I put the first one on, I realized they don't have the texture I thought they'll have. So I gave that idea up, and that's what I came up with.

Quit simple, I know. But I was really blocked. I swear!
By the way- sorry for the bad photos, it's a really last-minute post for me, since now it's after 11 PM here in my little country, and I NEED to go to sleep. Will you go easy on me this time?

My base color here is Ga-de tangerine, and on top of it I used tape to create the triangles [except dor the thumb]. The second color in the gradient is OPI german-icure.

31DC2013: Day 7, black and white nails

Saturday, September 7, 2013
Day 7 has arrived, and it's the last scheduled post!
Honest truth? It's the first one I wrote. So if I seem to not knowing what I'm doing- give me a little break, would you?

For this design I though about going with the design you see on my ring finger. In my mind it seemed that the glitter will somehow soften the look of the dark gray i choose. I ended up doing something completely different for the rest of my nails. I took a half-stiff brush and dipped it in a small amount of white nail polish, I than started from the base of my nail, and did this some sort of zig zag scribble.

My base color is p2 glory, my first try glitter is OPI piroette my whisle, and the white is Chic white flag.
