My first attempt at jelly sandwich manicure

Thursday, January 30, 2014
I've seen many sandwich manicures during my time in the nail art community. I was drawn to the stubble (yet still noticeable) appearance of the glitter on those manicure. And yet, I haven't got the chance to try it out myself. I don't own any 'real' jellies, so that was a little obstacle (putting it mildly).

I decided t hat I still want to try it, so I had to make a small shortcut in order for this to work. Instead of using a jelly nail polish, I grabbed one of my (very) cheap polishes, that I could never get to be fully opaque. I used the holographic glitter, and ended up amazed by the beauty of it through the red jelly.
The photos below are my best attempt of catching the holographic effect.

My base color is Ga-de Hot passion, which is a very dark and deep red. The glitter here is H&M Jo is in the house, and on top of it I used GK 741.
In conclusion, I believe that is using the right shades for this technique, I can create myself some sort of a dupe for Zoya Payton and Dream (that I've got in my wishlist ;) ).

The Lacquer Legion: Reinvention

Monday, January 27, 2014
It's the first (official) Lacquer Legion challenge, and I already feel pumped! This month prompt had me come up with two manicure ideas that I liked- the wrong one that you've already seen, and the one that actually follows the orders the way they REALLY should be followed. That's the one I have for you today!

When I sat myself down to think this theme through, my thoughts were blocked. But you know what they say- when in doubt, google it! (OK, so maybe nobody actually say it. Shhh...) So after doing so, I found this picture of the butterfly transformation stages, and realized that the metamorphosis it has to go through is not so different from this so called 'reinvention' many of us dream of doing.
I had so much fun wearing this manicure, and I'm most definitely proud of my fine-detailed work on the two grown butterflies. I showed it off whenever I had the chance to! What made it even better is that everyone (and I mean every. single. one.)  thought I used nail stickers. But here's the beauty of it- I didn't! This manicure is 100% legit- everything was free-handed by me!

The base color is Chic White flag, and the nail art was done using Chic White flagCrazy in love and It's a date, as well as Ga-de Black swan and California sun.

A challenge gone wrong

Thursday, January 23, 2014
This is a story about a girl with a poor English. The girl decide×’ to join The Lacquer Legion challenge. The girl also read the month theme "Reinvention" as "Renovation". Yep. That's right. The girl spend a fair share of her time planning a 'house renovation' themed manicure. And here's when the truth comes out- the girl above is me.
I ended up quiet liking the manicure I had in mind, so even thought I figured out my mistake before making it, I decided to go for it anyway! There's no harm in making an extra nail art, right?

The color of the wall is Chic White flag, and the fresh coat of paint was made using the perfect minty green-  Life 279. I drew the paint roller using Chic Diamonds [silver], Ga-de Black swan [black], and the mixture of Ga-de Black swan and Life 279.

Triangle studs

Monday, January 20, 2014
Just look at it. Look at how professional these pictures look like! I'm pretty proud of myself, I'll tell you that.
This manicure may seem a bit familiar if you're following my Facebook, since I used it as the profile picture. Anyhow, I'm taking this manicure as the first step toward being a bit more professional about my nail art, hoping my efforts will become even more visible in the near future.

On the ring finger, I organized silver caviar beads into two triangles- one on the edge of the other- and man was that a torturing job! I believe it was worth the effort thought. The triangle stud on my thumb is from a stud set I got from Forever 21 (shocking, I know. I can't seem to find it on their site, but it's the exact same wheel as in this set.). I also found a wheel of neon studs, so I grabbed that one as well.

My base color is Ga-de Perfect Plum.
