The Lacquer Legion: Adoration

Friday, February 28, 2014
We are now at the second month of The Lacquer Legion challenge, and let me tell you- I'm so glad I joined! This challenge prompts are so wide and unspecific, that I struggle to come up with the right mani to fit it. As I did before, I've decided to go literal on the subject, and when last time I had the reinvention of the butterfly shape, this time my nails consist of a crowd filled with adoration to their idol.

As to who or what this idol is, this is all up to you! The vision I had in mind is the cheering crowd at a concert, or maybe a party of some sort, or better yet- a DJ's concert that combines it all together. To demonstrate the colorful stage light I played around with strokes of different glow in the dark polishes, and on top of those, I added the crowd silhouette. Unfortunately, the crowd isn't really visible in the glow mode.

My base color is Wow 350, and above it are 4 BK's glow in the dark polishes- 01, 04, 07 and 09. The polishes does glow in different colors, with the main difference being in the purple polish, and yet on my glow in the dark photos [as in real life], it all seems to glow in the same color, so the colorful affect is lost. For the crowd silhouette as well as the French tip on my thumb I used Wow 393.

Robot necklace manicure

Monday, February 24, 2014
A while back, I couldn't hold the urge, and bought a very cute robot necklace from Forever 21. While wearing it one day, I took it off and played with it out of boredom. The chain kept twisting around my nails, and that I decided that I HAVE to do a manicure inspired by this necklace!

Since that fateful day, the idea was sketched in my little ideas notebook, and I finally got around to do it! I drew the robot by hand, and added the very fitting stamp to the rest of my nails to finish of this design.

My black base is Ga-de Black swan. I used Ga-de Vintage silver and Bundle Monster BM-012 for the stamping, and Chic Diamonds for the robot.

Full glitter placing manicure

Thursday, February 20, 2014
Sparkles! Sparkles all around! Do you see that amazing reflection of the light, viewed on all the colors of the rainbow?
That's right. You do. Because what I have for you today is holographic glitters, and tons of them!
I've finally got my hands on gold holographic qlequins, and decided that this time, instead of an accent nail, I'll go with a complete manicure filled with glitter!

After completing this manicure, I couldn't help but keep on playing with my fingers up against the light, and just stare at it while it sparkles. And yet, as much as I love it, it was a bit too much for me. I guess I'll keep with accent nails and non-full glitter placing for a while.
The two photos below are showing the manicure in direct light.

My base color is P2 Glory.

Purple hexagons meet nubs

Monday, February 17, 2014
I don't know why, but this title sounds like some sort of a summary to a  Sci-Fi-Romance movie. Imagine it- a purple hexagons, with his very own pare of legs, walks into a bar and seeing miss nub sitting at the corner. Her well moisturized cuticles and smooth surface catch his look, and---
Ok, I'll stop right there, and we'll move on to the manicure before someone decides to hospitalize me somewhere.

I tried stamping again, because you know what they say- practice makes perfect! Well, the thumb on my left hand was the best of my many tries. For some reason, the stamping on my ring finger insisted on smudging every single time I tried to repeat on it, so I ended up just letting it be.

Also, this time I actually made the same nail art on both hands! If you knew me IRL, you'd know how rare that phenomenon is. Many times I even go with my right hand polish-naked. Yes. I am THAT lazy. Kinda justifies the blog's name, doesn't it?
So in order to celebrate that, I've decided to include some very rare (and you better appreciate it!), right hand photos.

The base color of all my nails is Chic I lilac you. I stamped using Bundle Monster BM-422 and Life 337, which is a nice shimmery purple. The glitter topper is Wow 368. I added a stud from Forever 21. I actually quite liked the fact that the black stud breaks the overall purple look a bit, but doesn't disturb it.

Quick Valentine manicure

Thursday, February 13, 2014
While I originally planned on posting one of the 3 post I have waiting in the drafts, and ignore Valentines Day all together, I picked up this gorgeous red textured nail polish just few hours ago, and had to give it a go. So here we are, with a simple, last minute manicure, that deserves to be included as a valentine day manicure due to its color scheme.

This shade is so unique! With it's pink-leaning red base, it has gold and bright pink shimmer, that makes it sparkle so beautifully under bright indoor light. Haven't got a chance to see it in sunlight, but in case it's as gorgeous as indoors, I will update you! UPDATE: It's even more amazing outside!
So With a quick taping on two bare nails I matched 3 full coverage nails (photos shows only one coat), this quick, last minute manicure is done, and can be done for those last minutes dates!

This shade is Life 301, from their new textured line.

Sochi Olympic Games- Curling nails

Monday, February 10, 2014
If you're following my Facebook page, you already know that the 1st of February was a horrible day. It was the day I was forced to cut down my nails and make them into nubs. After screaming at the top of my lungs, I set my self down and made a new manicure, because I couldn't look at my naked nubs for another second. Now, don't get me wrong- there are many people who can really rock their nubs, but unfortunately, my hands just look too big like that. Doesn't work for me.

So although the Winter Olympics started a few days ago, only now I'm posting my Olympic nails, inspired by my favorite winter game- Curling. In Curling there's a target painted on the ice floor, and it is played in two groups. The point of the game is to get your group's rocks as close to the target eyeball, but also making sure the other team's rocks as far as possible.
The Curling competitions only started today, so this manicure comes out just in time!

So here is a quick breakdown of the whole nail art:
I believe my pointer needs no introducing, but anyhow, it's says "Sochi 2014", to state which Olympic games we are talking about. My middle finger shows this year's Curling icon, with a man throwing the rock. Which leads me to my ring finger, on which I've drawn the rock itself, on the white background of the ice, on it's way to reach the target- which is exactly what I have on my pinky.
On my thumb I have the well known Olympic rings. Don't ask me why the logo is placed so low, it just turned that way during the course of things.
All was free handed but the icon's head, in which I used a dotting tool.

And we're down to the colors break down. The white base color on all of my nails is Chic White flag. The light blue on my thumb, pointer and middle finger is Chic Bora bora. The red is Life strawberry, and the dark blue that I've paired with it on my pinky is Life 332. The dark-silver shade of the rock is Ga-de Vintage silver. The black is Ga-de black swan, the green in Life 327, and the yellow is Ga-de Mellow yellow.

Caviar beads in rows and triangles

Thursday, February 6, 2014
After obsessing over my Facebook page when I got new likes, I was inspired to use my caviar beads again. The last post you've seen them in was the first time I've ever used them, although I own them for a long time now.

This time, I used a more interesting color, rather then the silver I've used before. I really like the way the caviar beads looks when are ordered in a triangle.
Other then that- making the stripes was a pain in the ass. To get them to sit straight and not move, while I keep working one by one, was not an easy job.

My base color here is Ga-de Black swan.

Blue skittlette tribal

Monday, February 3, 2014
My first stamping post! While having many mistakes, I take pride of this manicure. I even tried to fill up the empty spots, but the shade I used ended up much lighter with the stamping, and the lines I made were far from being straight, so there's that.
After making this manicure I realized that it fits another monthly challenge I decided to join- Nailvengers Assemble. January theme turned up to be "New year, New technique", which fits right in with my first (and sad) attempt at stamping. So while I'm a bit late to the party, I promise you that I made this manicure on January 31st!

I still need alot of practice. Maybe I should go for the small prints first, instead of full nail ones, but oh well. You can be sure that you'll see much more stamping posts now that I finally got my Bundle Monster order, and own 42 stamping plates!

My base color on all nails but my pinky is Essence That's what I mint!. The pinky and the stamping were done using Laline Kahal galena. I used Bundle Monster BM-402 for the stamping. The studs are from Forever 21.
